Doorway,
once again, displayed a Christmas Tree at the Chippenham Methodist
Circle's 'Festival of Christmas Trees' between 12th and 15th
December 2009.
This
year, Doorway decided to use volunteer comments since we have
concentrated on guests over the last couple of years, and
we thought it important to highlight the experiences of our
volunteers during the drop-in sessions.
The
theme was entitled "Benefits of Befriending" and
we received some very inspirational comments which we wrote
on red tags:-
Totally
dedicated staff, willing, cheerful volunteers, mostly appreciative,
friendly guests – Doorway, I love Thursdays (A.R)
Volunteering

have difficult and challenging lives and that hopefully I

It’s
a pleasure to get better acquainted with our guests, and hopefully
most say that they are cared about, and wished well for their
future (E.H)
I
have enjoyed working with Doorway over the last year, it has
brought me out of my shell and I love to see the guests move
out of their shells and making something good out of their
lives (R.H)
For
me Doorway is a real expression of an inclusive society where
we reach out to embrace those who have lost their sense of
belonging (B.P)
A
broader understanding of the reality of life in Chippenham.
An opportunity to use skills in a positive way and accept
my limitations (V.B)
