The Marathon Men – 15th September 2013
On Sunday 15th September 2013 four brave hearted members of the public are running half marathons in support of Doorway in potential gales and lashing rain…
The Bristol Half Marathon Men
Steve and Andy have supported Doorway over the last few years by playing at our gig nights. Both are members of the legendary band the Tin Cards who always manage to get the audience jumping around and generally behaving rather wildly on the dance floor!
Steve is running in memory of his wife, Kate, who passed away the Christmas before last. She loved doing stuff for less well-known charities so doing this is very important to him. Also having seen the difference our work has made, they decided to gather every penny possible to further support Doorway.
Steve and Andy’s fundraising page can be found at Virgin Money Giving
The Chippenham Half Marathon Men
Steve and Chris run the Bridge Brasserie restaurant and bar in Chippenham. The food here is truly excellent and their cocktail menu is really very creative – I have never drunk a cocktail out of a plastic bag before!
Their training video is hilarious and deserves to go viral…
To support Steve & Chris please sponsor them via text message. It’s absolutely free of charge & Doorway receives 100% of your donation!
Just text DOOR22 & an amount (eg £5) to 70070.
Doorway is very very grateful to all four guys for their support
Please sponsor them and help to ensure that we can continue our vital work within the local community.
Update – Bristol
“We made it! We crossed the line in 2hrs 15 mins, with the last 5 miles being heavily punctuated with excessive swearing as problems (knees, backs, ankles, thighs and nipples that felt like they were against a cheesegrater rather than a nice soft t-shirt) made themselves known. However, with the “Go Spongebobs” encouragement loud in our ears, ran the whole thing.” Andy & Steve
Update – Chippenham
“With times of 2:00:33 (Steve) & 2:15:19 (Chris) it’s time to draw a line under our marathon careers! We both clocked PBs though!” Steve & Chris
