Volunteer With Us

We have a pool of between 40 and 50 volunteers, depending on the time of year, who undertake a variety of roles. These include cooks, kitchen assistants, befrienders, people with IT skills, and people with relevant experience to help run groups. Volunteers benefit from regular training in a wide range of subjects – recent training has included mental health awareness, an overview of drug & alcohol abuse, autism, First Aid, modern slavery and self-defence.

If you’re interested in volunteering for Doorway please download, complete and return this form. We ask for an enhanced DBS certificate on behalf of all our volunteers. Unfortunately it is not possible to volunteer just over the Christmas period; volunteering for Doorway is a long term commitment and homelessness is a year-round problem.

“I can truly say however I fell when going to Doorway I always feel 100% better when leaving. It really puts things into perspective and gives you a kick up the butt. I enjoy my time at Doorway as it makes me feel valued.”

Volunteering at Christmas

Whilst we are very grateful for the increased awareness of our organisation at this time of year, we would like to point out to those who are enquiring about volunteering at Christmas that we provide services for the other 51 weeks of the year and do not take on temporary volunteers.

We have a dedicated team of around 50 permanent volunteers who are all recruited via a very strict application process.
